The Sixth grade homeroom teacher, Mr. Lione, is also the Music teacher for grades K-8.
• The reading classes in Grades 5 and 6 work on reading comprehension skills, finding the main idea, inference and study skills while reading short stories, poems and chapter books.
• This year's 5th grade selection includes Eleanor Estes 100 Dresses, Sadako by Eleanor Coerr, The Cay by Theodore Taylor and Tuck Everlasting by Natalie Babbitt, plus interesting challenging and enjoyable book reports including biography books, sports, mystery and animal books
• The 6th grade also reads short stories and poems as well as an exciting year of Newbery Book Reports. Classroom reading includes John Steinbeck's The Pearl, Mark Twain's Tom Sawyer, C. S. Lewis' The Silver Chair, The Indian in the Cupboard by L. R. Banks and Elizabeth Winthrop's Castle in the Attic and Battle in the Castle. |
