Academics : Third Grade
Goals
Good study skills and confident, independent work. Emphasis on responsibility, organization and self-motivation.

Projects
Three book reports and two research projects will be required.

Homework
Includes unfinished daily work and assigned work. Students will use a composition book for homework.

Weekly Folders
Folders containing each child’s weekly work will come home on Wed. Parents should sign the folder and return it to school. Assignments with unsatisfactory grades may be corrected and resubmitted.

Reading
Time will be spent reading silently, and as a class. The third grade has three reading books. Vocabulary, oral and silent reading, comprehension, phonics and other reading skills will be stressed.

Chapel Journal
Students will respond in a Chapel journal by answering questions. In addition, Bible memory verses will be assigned each week.

Math
Addition, subtraction, multiplication and division will be covered. Tests of basic facts will occur 3 times per week. Home practice is helpful..

Spelling
Pretests will be given, home practice follows and other assignments will reinforce and apply these words. Post tests are given on Day 5.

All About Me
Each month a different classmate is featured. Photos, artwork, awards, souvenirs and other items will be shared.
