Happy Lutheran Schools Week!
Chapel – will be on Tuesday, March 9, 2010 at 8:30am in the church. Family and friends are always welcome to worship with us. In the event of inclement weather, chapel will be held in the school gym.
Lutheran Schools Sunday – is this Sunday, March 7th! All Lutheran schools, nursery schools through colleges, across the country celebrate Lutheran Schools Sunday on this day! All students in grades K – 8 and their families are invited and encouraged to attend the 10:15am worship service. All students have a special song to sing. Touring Handbells, Beginner Handbells and Signing Club will also be participating in the service. Zion Nursery classes will also be singing. Faculty & staff will be recognized. Please plan to attend the service and enjoy the delicious breakfast and fellowship at the Pancake Breakfast before or after the service.
Pancake Breakfast – Our Annual Pancake Breakfast will be on Lutheran Schools Sunday, March 7th beginning at 9am until 12 noon. Please come join us for a delicious breakfast before or after our 10:15am Lutheran Schools Celebration Service. See attached flyer for more information about the breakfast.

Yankee Candle Fundraiser – The 8th grade is sponsoring a Yankee Candle Fundraiser to raise funds for their trip to Washington D.C. Please see attached packet for details and ordering information. The candles will be delivered in time for Mother’s Day!
K – 3 Grade Musical DVDs – DVDs are be available for $5. Please send your money in a labeled envelope to the school office if you would like to order a DVD.
Beefsteak Dinner – Our Annual Beefsteak Dinner and Auction is on April 24th. This is our school’s biggest fundraiser of the year! Tickets are now on sale in the school office. The price is $35 per ticket. We are also in need of items to be donated for our live auction and tricky tray. Your donations are tax deductible and you will receive a letter/receipt for all items donated. Please call the school office if you have any questions.
Science Expo – Science is all around us and soon it will be all around the Zion Gym for our SCIENCE EXPO!!!! As many of you know, the students in 4th through 8th grade have been hard at work on their Science Expo Projects. We at Zion are inviting parents, friends and family to come and see all the new and exciting experiments, projects and models the students have been working on. The Science Expo will be taking place on March 11th from 1 – 3pm during school and 7 – 8pm after school. All students have been working hard and it would be wonderful if everyone can make it to see all the hard work they have put into their Science Expo Projects. N.U.T. Day – We will be having a N.U.T. day on Thursday, March 11th to help the earthquake victims in Haiti. The money we raise will go to Lutheran World Relief and be designated for the earthquake victims. Tickets are $1.00 and will be on sale by the Munsch-kins & Mini-Munschkins Monday, March 8th to Thursday, March 11th. Thank you for your support.
Furnace Fund Drive – Please watch your mailboxes for a letter regarding the Zion Lutheran School fund drive for a new furnace. When you receive it, please give this some prayerful thought and make a donation if you can. Thank you for your continuing support of this school.
Thank You – to all that contributed to the Health Kits for Haiti. Any kits that do not go to Haiti will be given to Lutheran World Relief to aid other countries in need. Thank you for your generosity and support!
Easter Candy Fundraiser – you may order online at www.gertrudehawkchocolates.com and click on fundraising, then searching for a fundraising site. Zion’s # is 126002. The deadline for online orders is 3/26/10 at midnight.
Important Date Changes – The 4th – 6th grade play has been changed to Friday, March 26th at 7:30pm. The Student Government Pizza & Movie Night has been changed to Friday, April 23rd. Please watch NWAZ for more details on both of these events.
Chess Club – will be meeting twice a month. The next meeting is on Monday, March 22nd.
Student Government – will meet on Monday, March 8th from 3:10 – 4:00pm in Mrs. Hofmann’s room.
Beginner Handbells – will meet on Tuesday, March 9th from
3:00 – 3:45pm in Mrs. Walz’s room.
Signing Club – will meet on Wednesday, March 10th from 3:00 – 3:45pm in Mrs. Walz’s room.
Bolch’s Bakers – will meet on Wednesday, March 10th from 3:10 – 4:30pm in the cafeteria.
Touring Handbells – will meet on Thursday, March 11th from 3:00 – 4:15pm in the band room.
KFC Lunch – The 8th grade is sponsoring a KFC Lunch on Wednesday, March 10th. Please see attached order form. Note – the form and money are due by Tuesday, March 9th.
Hero Lunch – The School Board is sponsoring a Hero Lunch on Thursday, March 11th. Please see attached order form. Note – the form and money are due by Tuesday, March 9th.
Manna – (GIFT CARDS) for Shop Rite, Kings and A&P can be purchased in the school office Monday through Friday during school hours. Remember certificates are at FACE VALUE so there is no extra cost to you.

General Mills Box Tops – Remember to collect box tops. Bring them to school and put them in the box outside the office.
Campbell Soup Labels – are collected by our school. Please bring in the UPC bar code part only and put them in the container outside the school office.
Tyson Project A+ Labels – are collected by our school. Please bring in the appropriate portion of the label and put them in the “chicken” container outside the school office.
