Multi Age Curriculum

     We are embarking on a Multi-Age Curriculum for grades K – 3.  A Multi-Age Curriculum is formed by placing together a balance of numbers of students with a range of achievement levels.  In a multi-age classroom, every child can become a successful learner on his or her continuum of growth.  The multi-age environment requires teachers to facilitate the learning of each child.  With this in mind, Mrs. Walz and Mrs. Bolch will work primarily as the kindergarten and first grade teachers.  Mrs. Bolch will also be responsible for Social Studies, K through 3, as well as Spanish, grades 2 & 3, Math, grade 1 and Spelling, grade 1.  Mrs. Walz will be the kindergarten and first grade teacher along with Mrs. Bolch teaching Religion, Math, Reading, Phonics, Spelling, Penmanship, Social Studies, Science, Health, Art, Signing and Handbells.

     Miss Hoglund and Mrs. Hofmann will primarily be the second and third grade teachers.  Miss Hoglund will be responsible for Reading, grades 1,2 & 3, along with Phonics, 1, 2 & 3, grades 2 & 3 Art, and Penmanship, grades 2 & 3.  Mrs. Hofmann will be responsible for Grades 2 & 3 in Religion, Math, Language, Spelling and Science.

     A schedule has been designed for all these subjects as well as including socialization time.  The students will move from room to room or center to center, depending on the teacher’s expertise and interest.  Every child will be looked upon as an individual.  Their educational needs will be addressed.  This reinforcement of skills and knowledge will build self confidence and self esteem.  Cooperation, study habits, social interaction, and self-motivation will also be stressed.
